Grant Accountant

Grant AccountantThe Grant Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with budget, audits, and close processes. The Grant Accountant is responsible for the full cycle of the grant billing process, ensuring timely and accurate accounting for grants from managing AP to receiving payments. The Grant Accountant will work closely with the funders to resolve discrepancies and partner with others in the organization to ensure accounting is functioning in the most efficient way.Essential Functions:Records general journal entries, maintains general ledger accounts and performs account reconciliations. Ensure accurate record keeping.Assists with month-end and year-end close processes. Pays specific attention to prepaid, accrual, and grant billings.Assists with reviewing bank statements for all entities and accounts.Assists with review and import of payroll entries into accounting systems and reconcile payroll to ensure accurate accounting for staff time and PTO.Backup for the accounts payable process including but not limited to approving AP invoices data and coding, reviewing cash disbursement ledgers before check runs, and ensuring cash availability, making bank transfers as necessary.Responsible for grant-related audits, ensuring audits are completed accurately and on time.Assists with the annual budget process as needed, which may include supporting leaders in understanding their budgets and accounts.Assist with maintaining and reconciling depreciation and accounting fixed asset files.Prepares monthly draws for various applicable grant organizationsGathers information to prepare the grant drawsSubmits monthly invoices to various fundersReconciles payments to the draw and to the general ledgerTracks grants receivablesOrganizes and maintains support files for grant drawdownsAssists with other accounting functions as needed.Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Benefits Include:Generous PTO policy8 paid holidays plus 1 Floating HolidayMedical InsuranceDental InsuranceVision InsuranceEmployer-paid Life and Long-Term Disability InsuranceEmployee-paid Life and Short-Term Disability Insurance403(B) Retirement PlanEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)30% employee discount at Outfitters Thrift Store*Families in Transition is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
