Position: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)

Location: North Carolina or Compact Licensed Candidates

Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)

Targeted Start Date: Priority for starts on 9/8/2026; May consider 9/21/2026

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) to join a dynamic healthcare team. The L&D RN will provide high-quality care to patients during labor and delivery, ensuring the safety and well-being of both mother and child.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess the health of mothers and newborns during labor and delivery.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Assist in high-risk deliveries and perform necessary procedures.
• Provide education and support to families regarding childbirth and newborn care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Effectively use electronic charting systems (EPIC) for documentation and communication.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in Labor & Delivery.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP (certifications must be current and in hand).
• Licensure: Current NC license or compact license must be in hand.
• Charting Experience: Proficient in EPIC electronic health record system.
• Availability: Open availability with no blocked scheduling; must be available for every other weekend and floating between High Risk and L&D units.

Desired Skills

• Administration of blood products, antepartum care, and newborn assessments.
• Experience with high-risk pregnancies, complications management, and patient education.
• Proficient in the use of EFM and infusion pumps.
• Experience with various delivery methods, including vaginal deliveries and C-sections.
• Ability to handle high acuity situations and provide supportive care in a fast-paced environment.

Unit Details

The Labor & Delivery unit cares for a diverse population including high and low-risk pregnancies with a high volume of deliveries monthly. The unit operates with an average daily census of around 25 patients, encompassing both antepartum and postpartum care.

Additional Information

• Orientation: Bi-weekly orientations available.
• Scrubs: Provided by the facility, in royal blue.
• Attendance Policy: Travelers may have up to three absences per 13-week contract.
