Ranch Foreman - D'Hanis, Texas Full Time Facilities Houston, TX, US 2 days ago Requisition ID: 1071 Job Title: Ranch Foreman Work Location : D’Hanis, TX 78850 Job Summary: The Ranch Foreman is an on-site working supervisor responsible for the day-to-day activities at Squirrel Creek Ranch. Working hands on with the Ranch Hands to care for the livestock, exotic animals and maintain all aspects of the 2,200 acres ranch. Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversee the Ranch Hands and onsite Contractors Oversee the Guest Services Coordinator Duties/Responsibilities: Cattle and Exotic – Welfare is the utmost priority All cattle and exotics to be checked daily and more frequently during calving season All cattle and exotics to be properly maintained year round Mineral and salt available in all pastures Syrup troughs utilized in winter months Water troughs to be clean and maintained Ground feed program to be maintained Hay provided as necessary (winter) Breeding Program All work implemented in the month of April Cows exposed to bulls in April, May, June and July (Calvino in January, February, March and April) Veterinarian Services Veterinarian utilized for sick or injured cattle and exotics Planting Spring Hay grazer planted in March or April Irrigate and fertilize as necessary Bale in square bales until all barns are full, then convert to round bales Minimum of two cuttings desired “Main House” spring garden planted and maintained Fall Oat fields prepared in late Sep Oats planted in October and fertilized as nec “Main House” fall garden planted and maintained Equipment All equipment properly always maintained Check all fluid levels and tires prior to and after usage All vehicles checked daily before putting them into service (Ranch Hands, Tractors, etc.) Preventative Maintenance performed on equipment after usage (shredders, plantes, etc.) Equipment shed always kept neat and orderly Irrigation Equipment Care and maintenance of this equipment Operator must have a throughout knowledge of irrigation – the on, running and off procedures Well engines must be checked and maintained prior, during and after usage Shredding and Fence Program Fences Fences are checked and maintained Fences are sprayed with weed kill in late March and April Gates are properly maintained Shredding Air strip and frontage are shredded and maintain a good appearance on a regular basis. The first shredding is done after the wildflower blooming season All senderos, tank areas, roads, and fence lines are shredded in March and early April (according to winter rains) Ranch Hands work with weed eaters around trees and other areas not accessible to the shredder Shredding program repeated in early September for the fall season Chute and equipment properly serviced and maintained Pens kept neat and orderly All gates in working order Drawers and cabinets properly stocked and kept in a neat manner Tack room and feed room kept neat and orderly Foreman’s responsibility to train and ensure all Ranch personnel are qualified to perform their assigned duties or operate assigned equipment Foreman must maintain all necessary records in conjunction with ranch payroll (Ranch hands, cooks, etc.) Foreman responsible for welfare of ranch personnel (groceries, board, safety, etc.) Foreman must maintain up to date records of all transactions and activities pertaining to the cattle and exotics Foreman is responsible for the security of the ranch Gates locked and secured Prevent unauthorized use of ranch or equipment Security of houses No personal cattle will be authorized on the ranch and personal cattle related enterprises are not suggested. No personal use of the main house swimming pool Dogs are limited to two and kept fenced at the Foreman’s home Personal horses are limited to two and their maintenance is the Foreman’s responsibility Responsible for the welfare of the owner’s pets Faust Policies Conduct all activities with a ‘safety first’ mindset, use all required PPE and participate in FDC’s safety trainings Complete all assigned trainings, tasks and surveys Report vehicular accidents and/or on-the-job injuries in accordance with the protocol listed in the Faust Employee Handbook Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License and pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) check. Required Skills/Abilities/Experience: Able to schedule and maintain all aspects of the ranch Able and willing to work 7 days a week Maintain permanent residency at the ranch Demonstrated leadership skills or aptitude Previous ranching experience Bilingual (working knowledge of Spanish) Dependable and trustworthy Physical Requirements: Strength to lift, load, push, and pull weight up to 100 pounds. Manual dexterity to operate ranch equipment. Ability to safely operate power ranch equipment numerous times each day. Ability to consistently bend, reach, and squat while working up to 12 hours daily. Stamina to continuously stand and walk up to 12 hours a day. Ability to work while exposed to indoor and outdoor weather conditions including high and low temperatures, wind, ice, humidity, rain, fog, hail, sleet, and snow.
