Vice Principal

The Vice-Principal shall assist the Principal in all phases of the administration and supervision of the school.

The Vice-Principal is responsible for the supervision of all professional and non-professional staff in his/her building as designated by the Principal.

The Vice-Principal shall, within his/her certificate and in accord with terms and conditions of employment contained in the negotiated agreements when and if applicable:

• Assist in the supervision of children and the maintenance of discipline.
• Have knowledge of and assist in the implementation of the policies, programs, and curricula of the school system.
• Bring to the attention of the building Principal recommendations for changes to policies, personnel regulations and other such matters that may result in a more thorough and efficient school administration.
• Assist in supervisory activities to improve instruction, including teacher evaluation.
• Assist the Principal in the supervision of the daily operation of the school.
• Assist the Principal in the planning and supervising of measures designated to promote pupil safety and welfare.
• Give constructive suggestions and criticisms to the Principal concerning the total school program.
• Seek self-improvement by participating in educational meetings, workshops and studies outside of the school system and by reading professional journals and joining professional organizations.
• Assist in Supervisory Activities including evaluations of non-certificated personnel.
• Assume duties and responsibilities of the Principal in his/her absence.
• Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Principal.

Possession of a valid New Jersey Administrative Certificate with an endorsement of Principal.
