Unit Notes Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. Driver's license required at submittal and will be used to determine if candidate is outside 50 miles. Fingernail policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care- refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract RN's - Pass/Fail exam on Friday during orientation. OPEN BOOK exam on skills learned - they are given all necessary resources to pass. Must receive a 90% to pass or they will be terminated Department: Med Surg Certifications: BLS Beds: 42 Ratios: 1:5-6 How often are staff taking a 1:6 ratio? At least once a week Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Medical, surgical, and orthopedics Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Yes Any titratable drips? NO, except Heparin RT available and what equipment? (has only worked with RT doing all setup) RT is 24 hours on the floor Tele on the floor at all, central tele (any monitor techs)? Yes Tele's on the floor, but we have a centralized Tele station Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? Yes- 1:10-12 Shifts & Scheduling: 0630-1900, 1830-0700 Weekend Requirement: As needed Holiday Requirement: As needed Is there Call or a Standby requirement? No Floating Requirements: PCU or Burn Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided? Navy blue How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation? First week is classroom and then 2-12 hour shifts on the floor Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.
