About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PACU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years in a high acuity inpatient setting License: CA RN License required Certifications: BSN, ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: Experience in a Level I Trauma Center and Phase I and II PACU Description: The position requires nursing staff for a high acuity Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. The nurse will be responsible for recovering patients with higher acuity needs. Experience with kidney transplants, craniotomies, and cardiovascular surgeries is preferred. An understanding of Epic charting system is necessary. Preferred experience includes ICU, particularly in surgical ICU, cardiac ICU, or neuro ICU. Skills in managing end-tidal CO2 monitoring, airway assessment, and central line management are important. Knowledge in administering and managing medications, including antiarrhythmics and anticoagulants, is required. The nurse will follow protocols for hypoglycemia, hypothermia, and malignant hyperthermia. Attention to detail in patient assessment and post-operative care is crucial. Communication with interdisciplinary teams is essential for patient management. Nurses will be expected to monitor vital signs and manage pain through PCA pumps. The role demands adherence to infection control protocols and effective patient education during discharge. Flexibility to float to other units and adapt to treatment plans is a necessary qualification. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to conduct post-procedural assessments and provide guidance for follow-up care.
