Position Details Position: Physician Job Type: Regular Represented Pay Range: $8,982.78 – $11,720.46 Semimonthly Overview Multnomah County Health Department is seeking a Physician to provide comprehensive primary medical care and treatment services in community and clinic settings, focusing on prevention, health equity, and culturally competent care for underserved populations. Responsibilities Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions, conduct thorough health assessments, physical exams, order and interpret tests, devise and discuss treatment plans, prescribe and monitor medications, and reassess patients at appropriate intervals. Utilize panel‑based information technology to prioritize and direct proactive preventive health care and chronic disease management for assigned provider panels. Follow up on utilization issues such as emergency department or hospital admissions. Maintain training on new or updated systems to support patient health maintenance and quality of delivery. Identify need for specialty or rehabilitative services and make referrals. Assess and counsel patients on preventive care needs; deliver services or make appropriate referrals. Determine necessary high‑risk referrals, documenting medical necessity and benefit in the electronic health record. Provide clinical consultation to nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and support staff; prioritize and direct care team activities; coordinate with behavioral health providers for integrated care; and cover for clinical colleagues during absences. Participate in clinic, department, county, and community conferences, committees, and events to share and receive information for improving public health processes. Complete patient documentation and manage electronic inbox per established policies; enter encounter and billing codes accurately. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited medical school. One year residency in a primary‑care setting. Valid license to practice medicine in the State of Oregon and credentialing approval. CPR certification. Board certification or board eligibility in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine (preferred). Experience or ability to provide culturally competent care to diverse, low‑income, and medically underserved populations.
