We have been named one of the best places to work in Maine. Responsibilities Contact severely delinquent borrowers on serviced and bank‑owned loans to determine causes of delinquency. Collect financial information and review for potential loss mitigation options to cure the borrower’s delinquency. When a default cannot be cured, work with borrowers to liquidate homes in an expeditious, cost‑effective manner. Track loss mitigation process from first contact to final claim, and present files to team leader or mortgage holder for approval to refer to an attorney for foreclosure. Participate in the court‑mandated mediation program as needed. Oversee property management activities, including reviewing inspection reports and taking actions to preserve and protect properties per holder or mortgage insurance guidelines. Shadow and cross‑train with the team leader to expand knowledge and utility. Potentially call delinquent borrowers for payments on loans 15–90 days past due, depending on staffing. Qualifications Two‑year college degree or equivalent experience. Three to five years of collections, underwriting, or home‑ownership counseling experience (preferred). Basic knowledge of practical home ownership. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, write simple correspondence, and present information in one‑on‑one and small‑group settings. Mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, calculation of rates, ratios, percentages, and interpretation of bar graphs. Reasoning ability to apply common sense in detailed written or oral instructions and solve standardized problems. Computer skills: Internet, Excel, Word processing. Physical ability to sit regularly, talk or hear, occasionally stand, walk, use hands, and lift up to 25 pounds. Physical Demands The employee is regularly required to sit, frequently required to talk or hear, occasionally required to stand, walk, and use hands, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
