Nurse Navigator / Theranostics Clinical Ops

The Nurse Navigator role at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center supports a highly specialized Theranostics program within the Department of Nuclear Medicine. The Nurse Navigator collaborates closely with inter-professional teams and external providers to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care. The ideal candidate for the Nurse Navigator role is a registered nurse with a bachelor's level degree preferred, at least two years of medical-surgical nursing experience preferred, and an active State of Texas registered nursing license with current BLS or CPR certification. Specialty certification relevant to the practice area is preferred. This individual demonstrates strong clinical judgment, organizational skills, and the ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Shift / Hours Monday - Friday / 8 am - 5 pm (however, there is a high level of customer service that may occur outside of the hours / no weekends / no call / no holidays) Why Us? Responsibilities Patient Care Coordination and Navigation Coordinate and implement patient care across the continuum for theranostic therapies including Pluvicto, Lutathera, and Iodine-131 Review imaging, laboratory results, and medical history to identify and facilitate entry of qualifying patients into the theranostics program Triage newly diagnosed cases and obtain medical information to support initial consultations Coordinate multi-cycle treatment scheduling, follow-up assessments, and therapy logistics Act as a patient and family advocate to uphold patient rights and support informed decision‑making Theranostics Program Operations Oversee patient logistics, therapy coordination, and Epic order management Coordinate nuclear pharmacy radiopharmaceutical dose ordering and delivery Collaborate with nuclear medicine physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, technologists, nuclear pharmacists, radiation safety, imaging physics, and referring oncology teams Serve as a liaison with referring providers, including those outside UT MD Anderson Reduce non‑clinical administrative burden on faculty to support scalable program growth Clinical Conferences and Interdisciplinary Collaboration Co‑lead weekly therapy clinical operations and case conference preparation Ensure imaging, laboratory data, infusion plans, and documentation are complete and available for review Support effective inter‑professional communication and shared clinical decision‑making Organize and prioritize work of the patient care team to promote efficient use of resources Professional Practice, Quality, and Innovation Deliver evidence‑based nursing care consistent with institutional, state, and national standards Apply new knowledge, innovation, and technology to improve patient care delivery Participate in change initiatives, quality improvement efforts, and compliance with regulatory standards Assist with identifying and accruing eligible patients to clinical trials Track and report metrics and quality indicators related to timely cancer diagnosis and treatment Leadership, Education, and Service Excellence Train, coach, and mentor team members to support optimal patient care Provide feedback and participate in staff performance evaluation and professional development Foster a Just Culture environment with accountability and respect Connect patients with internal and community support resources including social work, nutrition, rehabilitation, financial counseling, and integrative services Deliver service excellence through clear communication, proactive problem solving, and professional conduct

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor's Degree Nursing. Preferred: Master's Degree Nursing.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required: 5 years Professional nursing experience to include three years oncology nursing. Required: 3 years Advanced Practice Registered Nurse experience in an oncology setting with preferred degree.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Required: RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure State of Texas Professional Nursing License (RN). Upon Hire Required: BLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire or Required: CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation Upon Hire Preferred: OCN - Oncology Nurse Certification National certification in Oncology and specialty practice area.
