About the Position

Job Title: Emergency Room Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Nurse Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 0 years required License: Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license Certifications: - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or to be obtained within ninety days of hire) - Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (or to be obtained within six months of hire) - Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification (or to be obtained within one year of hire) - Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification (or to be obtained within one year of hire) - Current STABLE certification (or to be obtained within one year of hire) - Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (or to be obtained within one year of hire) Must-Have: - Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field (preferred) - Two years of hospital nursing experience (preferred) - One year of Emergency Department or Critical Care Nursing experience (preferred) Description: The position requires coordination and implementation of individualized plans of care for each patient through the nursing process. Practicing within the scope, standards, and policies of the organization is essential. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans based on assessments to optimize outcomes. Prioritization and critical thinking skills are necessary, along with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Compliance with triage, treatment, evaluation, and documentation guidelines is required. Utilizing evidence-based practices is critical for collaboration with the healthcare team to ensure quality outcomes. Coordination of patient care includes transfer, discharge, referral, and addressing spiritual and psychosocial support needs. Identifying barriers to communication based on various considerations is essential. Evaluating learning needs of patients and families is part of the role, along with providing appropriate education. Effective delegation of patient care tasks to ancillary personnel is expected. The role may also involve precepting student nurses and new hires. Maintaining professional and ethical standards as noted in relevant guidelines is required. Demonstrating caring attitudes and behaviors is essential for developing therapeutic relationships and engaging in patient and family teaching. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
