Senior Substation Engineer

Overview The devices we make at SEL are embedded in the power grid, preventing blackouts and making outages safer and shorter in duration. As a Senior Power Systems Consulting Engineer in Engineering Services, you’ll provide expert solutions and services that help our customers protect and control critical electrical infrastructure and power systems worldwide. Responsibilities Act as a mentor to engineers, specialists, and technicians. Serve as a technical expert in the design and application of SEL equipment and solutions in your focus area. Research, innovate, and develop new solutions or processes. Review, approve, and complete scopes, budgets, and schedules for assigned work at the highest level of quality. Project‑manage, develop processes, lead training, and assist customers with the creation, design, configuration, validation, review, installation, commissioning, and operation of engineered solutions. Own environmental, health and safety leadership: maintain a safe workplace, promote safety awareness and training, conduct accident investigations and reporting, and implement safe and environmentally sound work practices. Qualifications BS degree in Electrical Engineering or an applicable discipline. 8+ years of working knowledge and experience of electric power systems or other equivalent transferable knowledge and industry experience. Expert knowledge in the area of focus, specifically in Power Systems Consulting. Excellent technical training and skills. Willingness to travel a minimum of 25% of the time. Preferred Qualifications Supervisory experience. Electrical utility, consulting, or system integrator experience. Extensive experience with power systems and customers. Working knowledge of Vision or other PM Tracking Software. Professional Engineer license. Location Open to multiple locations. Salary Range $136,100 - $170,300 (range may differ if filled at a different level). Benefits Competitive pay and superior benefits.
