Structural Project Design Engineer (Hybrid)Structural engineer with strong technical skills, an interest in developing leadership skills who works with more senior engineers on the preparation of engineering reports, specifications, and drawings of mid-rise and high-rise residential, commercial, and industrial buildingsResponsibilities:Executes the structural engineering tasks assigned or as otherwise directed by senior engineering staffAssists in development of structural drawings, Revit models and reportsAssists project team in applying building code provisions and interpreting material design standardsMaintains awareness of the production schedule for responsible task(s)Reviews completed tasks at key intervals for accuracy and completenessPerforms administration tasks during the construction of a project as assigned by senior engineering staff including submittal review and responses to field questionsAssists in communicating with other disciplines and project team members to ensure overall project coordinationParticipates in team and company-wide meetings to discuss project issues, coordination with other disciplines and technical issuesPrinciples:Performs work in a manner that demonstrates an appreciation for the firm's cultural values, including a commitment to quality, innovation, learning and respect for co-workers and colleaguesBecomes skilled in fostering and maintaining a collaborative professional working relationship with the project teamFosters awareness of the firm's principles of providing outstanding professional service to our clientsDemonstrates strong interest in sustainability in the construction industryFinancial:Develops familiarity with project budgets and feesDevelops understanding of the financial implications of overhead and chargeable timeRevenue or Opportunity Generation:Fosters awareness of the importance of growing and maintaining client relationships and the basic concept of business developmentQualifications and Experience:Accredited BS or MS degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural EngineeringOn the path to professional engineering licensure; EIT certification required3-5 Years ExperienceExperience with Revit preferredProficiency in MS Office Suite preferredAbility to evaluate structural systems and members using both calculator methods and structural analytical softwareAbility to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writingAbility to problem solve and collaborate on innovative solutionsAbility to work in team environmentAbility to work on multiple projects at the same timeAbility to effectively meet deadlines at expected qualityLocation: San Antonio, Austin or Dallas - TX, New Orleans or Lafayette - LATravel: Some travel to out of town projects or meetings may be requiredBenefits:Medical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off and company holidaysWellness programs and employee assistance resourcesProfessional development supportAbout Us:Founded in 1975, Salas O'Brien is an employee-owned engineering and professional services firm focused on achieving impact for our clients, our team, and the world.
