Mechanical Engineer, Amazon Robotics

As an Amazon Robotics Mechanical Engineer on the Mobile Robotics team, you will support the sustaining engineering efforts for Amazon's network of mobile drive units deployed across our fulfillment facilities. In this role, you will take particular ownership over the definition and development of floor requirements that enable mobile robots to successfully function within Amazon facilities. The ideal candidate has experience designing and analyzing robotic systems, enjoys analytical problem solving, and possesses practical knowledge of robotic design, fabrication, assembly, and rapid prototyping — with an ability to bridge mechanical hardware performance and environmental/infrastructure constraints.Key job responsibilities- Defining and developing floor requirements and specifications for mobile robots to operate reliably within Amazon facilities- Working with an interdisciplinary team to execute sustaining engineering solutions from concept to implementation, including specification, design, prototyping, validation, and testing- Partnering with Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Facilities organizations as well as vendors to support the deployed fleet of mobile drive units- Writing requirements, functional specifications, design verification plans, and test procedures — particularly as they relate to robot-floor interaction and environmental constraints- Exhibiting role-model behaviors of thorough engineering analysis and cradle-to-grave ownership- Designing and adapting holistic hardware and infrastructure solutions for ambiguous problems with fluid requirements- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, vendors, and integrators to deliver and sustain automation solutions across the network- Creating design of experiments and leading cross-functional efforts to validate floor performance criteria and robot compatibilityA day in the lifeAmazon offers a full range of benefits for you and eligible family members, including domestic partners and their children. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
