The Police Recruit classification executes the beginning level of police work, providing protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances. The department seeks individuals who desire a career in law enforcement within a large, urban, high‑performance organization. Duties and Responsibilities Patrol assigned City beat for traffic and other violations using patrol car, motorcycle, bicycle, and horse Make traffic stops and intervene in other criminal activity Conduct general field services, including monitoring police radio and responding to citizen calls and complaints Obtain and issue warrants Interview suspects and witnesses and follow up with victims Interact with city and community agencies and groups Respond to citizen calls, complaints and requests for information Application Process and Timeline Please check your email regularly, as correspondence regarding this recruitment will be emailed to you. Successful completion of an interview, thorough background investigation (including a polygraph), physical and drug/alcohol screening is required. The background process may take up to 60–90 days. An applicant disqualified from the background process may reapply one year after disqualification.
