Director of Treasury

The Director of Treasury will act as the leader of global treasury operations, drive liquidity risk management, cash forecasting, and partner with banking partners and business leadership to develop capital strategies that fund the firm’s growth - including international expansion and M&A. This role demands deep treasury expertise, strong commercial judgment, and the ability to operate at the intersection of treasury, trading, and finance in a precious metal's environment.

What You'll Do

• Lead daily, weekly, and monthly liquidity forecasting and global cash management across BIG and its operating companies.
• Manage borrowing base reporting and partner with metal banks and asset-based lenders on advance rates, eligibility, and collateral monitoring against precious metals inventory and receivables.
• Partner with the trading desk to monitor metals price exposure and support hedging activity (COMEX/LBMA futures, forwards, and options) consistent with firm risk policy.
• Oversee unallocated and allocated metals account activity, metals lease arrangements, Repo and consignment financing relationships.
• Manage foreign exchange exposure across multi-currency operations.
• Monitor covenant ratios and proactively surface risks, insights, and mitigation strategies
• Lead bank relationship management across credit, cash, and metals services - diversifying counterparties to reduce concentration risk and serving as primary point of contact for banking and funding partners.
• Build and execute debt paydown and interest expense reduction strategies; present results and balance sheet impacts regularly to the CFO, executive leadership and the Board.
• Partner with the business unit leaders to reduce inventory cost of carry and hold stakeholders accountable to inventory reduction targets.
• Optimize cost of capital and interest income across operating accounts, money markets, and short-term investments.
• Drive automation of treasury reporting using Tableau, AI tools (Claude, Copilot), and TMS platforms - delivering clear, timely, and accurate views for executive management.
• Support M&A and international expansion by building scalable treasury infrastructure and sourcing capital opportunities.
• Strengthen internal controls and partner cross-functionally with Accounting, FP&A, Tax, and Legal to enhance treasury operations and shorten reporting timelines.

What You Bring (Required)

• 7+ years of progressive treasury experience, including 3+ years managing treasury operations or leading cross-functional treasury initiatives.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience with borrowing base mechanics, asset-based lending, or commodity-backed financing.
• Working knowledge of metals or commodity price risk and familiarity with hedging instruments (futures, forwards, options).
• Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling, Power Query, scenario analysis, and large-dataset manipulation.
• Experience with a major ERP and a BI/visualization tool; comfort moving between systems and reconciling data sources.
• Experience working with AI tools (Claude, Copilot) to automate treasury workflows and reporting.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex topics to executives and the Board through clear analysis and storytelling.
• Integrity in handling highly sensitive and confidential information.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of distilling large data sets into concise, actionable conclusions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) certification.
• Experience in precious metals, commodities, or another inventory-intensive industry.
• Experience with a Treasury Management System (Kyriba, GTreasury, FIS Quantum, or equivalent).
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) and Tableau.
• Working knowledge of multi-entity, multi-currency consolidation and intercompany funding.
• Prior corporate finance, investment banking, or consulting background.
• Familiarity with US GAAP and treasury-related accounting concepts.

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field - required.
