This senior leadership position is pivotal in advancing nursing practice, workforce strategy, and clinical alignment across the entire health delivery system. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading system-wide efforts to standardize nursing practice, strengthen governance, and build a sustainable nursing workforce. The role demands a strategic, enterprise-level leader who can ensure that nursing is a key driver of organizational performance, with a focus on digital transformation, and innovation, and a commitment to improving quality, experience, and operational performance. Applicants for the CNO position at the company must have a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, a Master’s degree in a related field, and current RN licensure (or eligibility) in Maine. A minimum of 10 years of progressive nursing leadership experience, including senior-level roles in a multi-site or system environment, is required. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in improving quality, patient safety, and experience, as well as experience in clinical standardization and workforce strategy. Operational and financial acumen, including labor management, is essential, and experience in unionized environments is preferred. The role calls for a leader with a visible, hands-on leadership style, the ability to build alignment across diverse stakeholders, and a strong commitment to an inclusive, engaged workforce culture.
