The Medical Assistant Orthopedic plays a crucial role in supporting orthopedic healthcare teams by delivering direct patient care and assisting with a wide range of clinical and administrative tasks. This position involves working closely within both small and large teams to manage trauma and fracture cases, sports injuries, joint replacements, and pediatric orthopedic patients. The assistant ensures smooth clinical operations, effective patient education, and comprehensive support throughout orthopedic treatments.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients during examinations and treatments with empathy and professionalism
• Support orthopedic care by preparing for clinical procedures and managing equipment
• Document patient information accurately and maintain medical records
• Monitor and record vital signs
• Coordinate patient appointments and follow-up schedules efficiently
• Prepare and sterilize medical instruments and treatment areas
• Provide patient education related to orthopedic care and recovery processes
• Participate regularly in administrative tasks as part of team workflow

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of orthopedic terminology
• Strong patient communication skills
• Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Effective time management abilities
• Ability to collaborate within small and large teams

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in medical assisting
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
