Departmental Overview The Office of Risk Services implements Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) strategies to identify, assess, quantify, and evaluate casualty and operational risk exposures across the campus. The goal is to reduce liability exposures, reputational damage, and operational disruptions while supporting the University’s mission and financial stability. Job Summary Under the guidance of the Campus Risk Manager, the ERM Analyst III will perform a broad range of tasks in connection with the review of insurance, indemnification and limitation of liability provisions in complex contractual agreements for compliance with Regents Standing Orders. The analyst will provide litigation coordination support including the collection and production of evidence in litigation matters, and advise on the appropriate response to a range of complex operational risks (physical, financial, legal, reputational). Responsibilities Claims Management & Insurance Program Administration: Manage claims reporting and administration for general liability, property, automobile, and cyber liability claims; coordinate with campus departments, UCOP Risk Services, third‑party claims administrators, and UC attorneys; enter and maintain claims records in the campus claims management system; liaise with third‑party claims examiners; determine eligibility for reimbursement; review recommendations; assess deductibles; implement and monitor claims payment controls. Contract Review & Risk Transfer: Conduct red‑line contract review edits to insurance, indemnification, and limitation of liability provisions; ensure compliance with Regents Standing Orders; serve as a resource to staff, faculty, and departments; interact with stakeholders regarding contract‑related risk issues. Litigation Coordination & Legal Support: Coordinate with the Core Defense Coordination Team, the Office of General Counsel, campus counsel, UCOP Risk Services, third‑party administrators, and campus departments; conduct research into loss history; support document collection and production; issue litigation hold notices; manage electronically stored information and support e‑discovery. Risk Advisory, Assessment & Loss Prevention: Provide guidance on operational risks; conduct risk assessments and control gap analyses; interpret applicable laws and policies; analyze loss trends; participate in appraisal and adjustment proceedings; provide insurance consultations. Risk Training, Insurance Procurement & Program Support: Develop and deliver risk‑management and loss‑prevention training; support development of risk‑education materials; participate in campus committees; facilitate international travel safety briefings; review Be Smart About Safety proposals; support underwriting data collection; prepare broker or underwriter bid specifications; provide administrative and operational support. Required Qualifications Working knowledge of risk management, insurance, forecasting, or analytical methods. Ability to quickly learn organization‑specific systems, policies, and procedures. Strong interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills. Demonstrated analytical and critical‑thinking skills. Ability to communicate complex risk findings and recommendations verbally and in writing. Ability to maintain high standards of integrity and confidentiality. Education Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience or training. Preferred Qualifications Experience with contract review, red‑line editing, and negotiation. Risk Management Professional certification. Salary & Benefits The University’s compensation range for this role is $82,800.00 to $100,000.00.
