Job Description – Plumber 2 (ID 20034972) Work Location Ohio State Penitentiary, 878 Coitsville–Hubbard Road, Youngstown, 44505 Schedule Full‑time, Union: OCSEA Primary Job Skill Plumbing Trade What You’ll Do Serve as lead worker, providing work direction and training over plumbers or trades workers and/or inmates engaged in plumbing work. Install, modify and repair new and existing plumbing (e.g., unclog commodes, sinks and sewage lines, replace traps, valves and thermostats). Install water, steam, and gas lines and hook up laundry, laboratory, and kitchen equipment. Maintain building facilities and equipment, checking pipes, plumbing and fixtures for signs of corrosion. Check and lubricate pumps and valves, and change filters. Make minor repairs on steam lines. Perform support duties related to plumbing (e.g., order supplies, materials and equipment). Read blueprints, prepare job estimates, maintain job records and prepare reports. Establish and conduct preventive maintenance programs for plumbing systems and equipment. Serve on institutional committees. Attend training, seminars and/or meetings as required. Perform security functions as required (e.g., man‑down, shakedown, inmate movement). Qualifications • 18 months of training or 18 months of verifiable work experience in plumbing under the supervision of an experienced plumber; formal education in arithmetic that includes fractions and percentages and in reading, writing and common English vocabulary. • Or 6 months experience as Plumber1, 52261. • Or equivalent of the minimum class qualifications for employment listed above.
