L&D RN

Client delivers approximately 850 to 900 infants a year. Average of 75 deliveries per month. Provides general care services for full recovery for women and babies. Assess patients' clinical conditions, recognizing, identifying, and interpreting serious situations. Prioritize and take immediate action when necessary, including notifying physicians. Formulate nursing diagnoses and provide appropriate care for patients across the lifespan. Develop a plan of care for individual patients by interviewing the patient and family. Review the patient's health record to determine the required health and physical care. Incorporate special cultural, religious, physical, and psychosocial needs into the care plan. Initiate appropriate measures in emergency situations, such as resuscitative measures. Operate and monitor general and specialized emergency care equipment. Administer therapeutic measures prescribed by physicians, including medications and IV therapy. Plan, provide, and document teaching for patients and families in preventative, curative, and rehabilitative measures. Consider patients' and families' learning needs, styles, barriers, and readiness to learn. Record observations, interventions, and therapeutic measures administered. Evaluate progress toward outcomes and update the plan of care accordingly. Document specific health care requirements and prepare written assignments for team members. Plan and develop care delivery, coordinating documentation of care. Assume oversight for patient care administered by practical nurses and unlicensed personnel. Provide technical guidance and direction to other nurses and staff. Share responsibilities for maintaining adequate supplies, equipment, and a safe environment. Maintain knowledge and competency in current nursing practices. Promote professional growth for self and other staff members. Demonstrate positive role model and leadership qualities. Adhere to and promote professional, ethical, and legal standards of nursing. Maintain and promote positive personal work habits and interpersonal skills.
