Information Technology Specialist (InfoSec)

Organizational Location: This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Chief Information Officer, in Washington, District of Columbia. This is a non-bargaining unit positions. Basic Qualifications Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Problem Solving: Identifies IT related problems using a variety of materials or sources; gathers and applies technical information to determine accuracy and relevance to moderately complex problems; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives; makes decisions or recommendations that influence IT policies or programs and applies new developments to previously unresolved problems. Specialized Experience In addition to demonstrating the basic qualifications listed above, applicants must also demonstrate possession of specialized experience. You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level performing duties such as: Applying new information technology security developments to ensure current guidelines are updated accurately. Applying project management principles and methods to gain an overview knowledge of future IT enterprise infrastructure. Processing engineering concepts to comply with organizational standards. Leading implementation activities. Assessing new systems design methodologies to improve software quality. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
