Special Education Teacher - Middle School Share: Print: Duties Rochelle District #231 is seeking a highly motivated qualified individual with effective communication and interpersonal skills. Essential duties and responsibilities: Communicate with all stakeholders in regards to students’ individual needs and areas of growth through IEP meetings Assess students’ skills and determine their educational needs Adapt general lessons to meet students’ needs Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for each student Plan activities that are specific to each student’s abilities Teach and mentor students as a class, in small groups, and one-on-one Implement IEPs, assess students’ performance, and track their progress Update IEPs throughout the school year to reflect students’ progress and goals Discuss students’ progress with parents, other teachers, counselors, and administrators Supervise and mentor teacher assistants who work with students with disabilities Prepare and help students transition from grade to grade and from school to life outside of school Qualifications Valid Professional Educator License with Middle School Special Education endorsement (or ability to obtain) Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or related field Effective classroom management and student engagement strategies Salary/Benefits Salary and benefits determined by Collective Bargaining Agreement Supportive and collaborative school culture Link to District/Third Party Online Application Web Page #J-18808-Ljbffr The Illinois Association of School Administrators
