Data Platform Engineer

Must have experience managing databases across both environments today, with the ability to evolve toward a more cloud-native architecture over time. Strong traditional DBA skillset (despite modern tooling): While many databases are managed services (less focus on patching/upgrades), the team needs someone with deep foundational DBA knowledge who can operate at a low level when needed. Data platform engineering mindset (beyond just DBA): This role blends DBA + platform engineering—requires understanding how to build and support data platforms, not just maintain them. Role Scope & Ownership Acts as the primary database owner for all systems excluding SAP Responsible for SQL Server on Azure VM environment from Day 1 Will support a transition from hybrid → more cloud-native architecture over time Expected to bridge operational DBA work with future-state data platform design Key Technologies & Platform Direction Core Environment SQL Server (Azure VM initially) Hybrid infrastructure (on-prem + cloud) Used for building pipelines and large-scale data extraction Replacing tools like Apache Airflow Microsoft Fabric Focus is on building the platform / data layer , not Power BI Goal: enable end users to access data via Lakehouse architecture SAP Business Data Cloud Less critical day-to-day Candidate should understand how it fits into the ecosystem #J-18808-Ljbffr
