Position Purpose: Perform testing of inbound and process materials to hazard class and better manage the waste using various laboratory techniques, fingerprint screens, and cyanide analysis. Job Details Union: Yes Schedule: 8 hour shift Ability to commute/relocate: Sauget, IL 62201; Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required) Work Location: In person Primary Duties / Responsibilities Under direct supervision, perform routine tasks and simple analysis on hazardous waste samples utilizing prescribed procedures following company and regulatory guidelines and other wet chemistry methodologies to determine the nature of hazardous substances and ensure regulatory compliance. Gain experience with instruments such as gas chromatographs, calorimeters, flash point testers, ICPs, Mercury Analyzers, Ion Chromatography, pH meters, and Bomb Calorimeters. Includes site-specific training in the environmental side of waste management. Qualifications Education / Experience / Background: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related science discipline preferred Prior laboratory work experience of 2-4 years required The ability to use laboratory apparatus and equipment to perform safely, accurate, reproducible work and define problems, collect data, troubleshoot and draw valid conclusions.
