Editor in Chief and Head of Content

The job

Your primary goal is helping creators produce impactful content on complicated issues. You will own the content side of the business. That means knowing the policy well enough to teach it, knowing social well enough to make it work in a feed, and knowing creators well enough to tell them when they’re about to make a mistake. You will be the first hire in this new role, and will build and hire a team to work with you.

What you’ll do

• Spend a lot of time on the phone with creators. You will coach them through complex issues until they can explain them in their own words, push back when they’re wrong, and talk them out of bad ideas before they post.
• Take client-provided messaging and make it work on social. Clients hand creators talking points written for a hearing room. You turn them into something a creator would actually say to their audience.
• Write outlines for podcasts, videos, and segments. Structure, key points, the one stat that matters, the question the host should ask. Creators bring the voice; you bring the spine.
• Watch for landmines. A wrong number, a misread bill, a joke that doesn’t age, a sponsor that conflicts with a creator’s last ten posts. You catch it before it reflects badly on the creator or the client.
• Protect authenticity. Creators on our platform only promote things they believe in. You make the call on fit, and you say no to clients and creators when a match is wrong, even when there’s revenue on the table.

Who you are

• You understand how Washington works. Committees, markups, agency rulemaking, how a bill actually dies. You can read a 40-page policy document and find the three sentences that matter.
• You understand how feeds work. You’ve run accounts or produced content and know what performs on TikTok, YouTube, X, and a podcast, and why those are different answers.
• You can edit other people’s words fast without flattening their voice.
• You have judgment. Most of this job is deciding what not to do.
