Join Our Team as a Finance Analyst

Are you a detail-oriented finance professional with strong accounting and analytical skills? The City is seeking a Finance Analyst to support governmental accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, and financial analysis within the Finance Department. This role helps ensure the accuracy and integrity of the City's financial records while supporting financial planning, audits, and internal controls. The Finance Analyst will also administer the City's Procurement Card program and provide support to Accounts Payable and other Finance functions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, advanced Excel skills, familiarity with GAAP and GASB standards, and the ability to clearly communicate financial information.

What You'll Do

• Analyze, reconcile, and verify financial transactions and records, including preparing journal entries and supporting schedules.
• Support monthly and year-end financial close, financial reporting, and internal and external audit processes.
• Perform budget-to-actual and variance analysis, identify trends and key drivers, and prepare financial reports and analyses for management.
• Support the preparation and compilation of the annual Budget Book.
• Analyze and forecast the City's cash flow position to support day-to-day liquidity needs and inform management decisions.
• Administer the City's Procurement Card program and provide cross-functional support for Accounts Payable and other Finance functions.
• Conduct financial research and special projects, prepare ad hoc reports, and identify opportunities to strengthen internal controls and improve financial processes.

Skills You'll Need

• Knowledge of GAAP, GASB standards, and governmental accounting principles.
• Experience with general ledger accounting, financial close processes, and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills, and familiarity with financial systems and data analysis tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data, policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present financial information to both financial and non-financial audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, work independently and collaboratively, maintain confidentiality, and identify opportunities for process improvement.

What You Bring/Your Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least two (2) years of accounting or financial analysis experience.
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
• Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia.
• Satisfactory credit history

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Tyler, Munis, or similar ERP and financial management systems
• Experience working in a local government environment
