Architect (environmental infrastructure)

Brown and Caldwell (BC), a nationally recognized environmental engineering firm, has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Architect to join our Architectural team. We are a growing team in a growing market, focused on designing facilities related to water, wastewater, and environmental infrastructure. This role performs our full scope of architectural services including concept design, building code analysis reports, construction drawings and specifications, detailing, and support during permitting, bidding, and construction. More specifically, the successful candidate will work on various projects for municipal, technology, industrial, and federal clients. This role will work with civil, structural, mechanical, process and electrical engineers on projects for facilities primarily serving the water and wastewater industries. Project work includes: conceptualizing and implementing architectural designs; directing architectural BIM/Revit model creation and drawing production efforts; developing architectural standard details and specifications; and engaging in multi-disciplinary coordination. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative, multi-discipline environment to develop innovative, cost-effective designs for new facilities, expansions, upgrades and retrofits. Remote work is allowed from Mountain and Pacific time zones; the ideal candidate will be located near one of our offices for occasional in-person collaboration. Responsibilities Develop plans and specifications for building design and oversee its implementation. Performs regulatory code review to ensure project compliance. Conducts current conditions investigation and create appropriate documentation and reports. Coordinates and reviews discipline inputs to assure total project integration. Recommends building materials and provides advice and insights into materials selection. Oversee building and site aesthetics and ensure they align with project and client expectations. Provides construction support, shop drawings review, RFIs and addendum preparation. Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs. Continue to participate and maintain the AXP (Architectural Experience Program) documentation. Mentorship Provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team mem-bers develop their skills and grow within their roles. Skills and Competencies Expert understanding of architectural structures, building materials, codes and regulations. Advanced knowledge of planning and executing building designs and materials. Strong project management skills with the capacity to manage large projects or processes. Strong decision-making abilities, with a balanced understanding of risk and opportunity. Proficiency in utilizing building design and planning software. Advanced communication and collaboration skills across colleagues and third parties and ability to provide guidance. Ability to prepare for and take architectural licenses exams. Experience Typically requires minimum of 10 years of Architecture experience or related experience. Experience in planning and executing building designs. Project management experience. Typically will become certified in BC's Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) Framework and progress through the SMS competencies. Preferred Experience 12+ years of architecture experience. Project Architect experience – taking lead on design, coordination, and technical deliverables. Proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam. Proficiency of construction documents (drawings and specifications), with a strong understanding of construction detailing, building science and building systems. Proficient in building codes; and knowledge of national standards. Passion for design excellence, collaboration and willingness to learn. Experience in creating redlines, reviewing milestones, and managing junior staff. Education A degree in architecture, related field or equivalent experience is required. The role shall have achieved professional license. Salary Range Theanticipatedstarting payrange for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and maybemore or lessdependingupon skills, experience,and education. These ranges may be modified in the future. Location A: $105,000 - $143,000 Location B: $116,000 - $158,000 Location C: $126,000 - $172,000 This position is subject to a pre-employment background check and a pre-employment drug test.
