Job Title: Assembly Worker – Fixture Assembler

Job Description

This role focuses on building custom rotary and flat fixture dies used to cut corrugated cardboard, similar to large industrial cookie cutters. You will assemble fixture dies from start to finish by operating various machines, working with wood, and using a range of hand and power tools. The position is highly specialized, and you will receive extensive on-the-job training, with the expectation that it may take several months to become fully proficient. You will use a computer to follow detailed written and visual instructions and to complete required documentation, so basic computer literacy is important. The work is hands-on, physical, and detail-oriented, supporting a production environment that supplies dies to major corrugating companies.

Responsibilities

• Assemble fixture dies from start to finish according to work orders, written instructions, and visual guides.

• Operate a variety of machines to complete routing and other processes on wood components.

• Use hand and power tools, including pneumatic tools, throughout the day to build and finish dies.

• Perform frequent hammering and other repetitive manual tasks as part of the assembly process.

• Lift and move materials and dies, including team lifts for heavier items, with individual lifts up to approximately 70–80 lbs as needed.

• Follow detailed written and visual instructions accurately to ensure precise, custom-built dies.

• Use a computer to access work instructions, follow build steps, and complete necessary documentation.

• Maintain an organized workstation and handle work orders with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Apply rubber components to dies after blades have been installed, working carefully around sharp edges to minimize risk of cuts.

Essential Skills

• Ability to lift up to approximately 70 lbs and participate in safe team lifts for heavier dies.

• Experience following written and visual instructions, with at least 1 year preferred.

• Proficiency using hand tools and power tools in a production, construction, woodworking, or assembly environment.

• Comfort using pneumatic tools and performing frequent hammering throughout the day.

• Basic computer skills to follow on-screen instructions and complete documentation.

• Good hand dexterity for detailed, hands-on assembly work.

• Basic math skills for measurements and interpreting specifications.

Work Environment

The role is based in a mid-sized, family-owned manufacturing facility with a close-knit, team-focused culture. The production floor involves working around wood, glue, solvents, and common shop chemicals such as lubricants, so there may be occasional smells of glue, sawdust, or chemicals depending on the day; masks are available for those who wish to use them. You may get glue on your hands and will work near sharp blades that are already installed in the dies, so careful attention to safety is important even though cuts are uncommon. The position requires standing for most of the shift at a workstation, with anti-fatigue mats provided to increase comfort. Typical attire is standard manufacturing workwear: jeans or pants, a T-shirt or sweatshirt without derogatory words or images, and closed-toe shoes such as tennis shoes; clothing should be free of large, noticeable holes. The schedule runs Monday through Friday on a consistent shift, with overtime offered at the end of the shift for 1–2 hours as needed, most often once or twice a week, providing additional earning opportunities while maintaining a predictable workweek.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
