Volunteer Coordinator

Overview Under the direction of the hospice agency manager or designee, the hospice volunteer coordinator recruits volunteers and manages the volunteer program, ensuring compliance with required reporting and CMS regulations. Responsibilities Supervises and develops the Volunteer Program for assigned hospice agency areas. Accurately completes all required clinical documentation consistently per RHS standards. Maintains volunteer files and ensures they meet documentation requirements. Assesses each volunteer’s supervision, evaluation, and documentation. Ensures volunteer compliance with agency policies and procedures. Helps provide 5% of clinical staff hours from volunteer services to maintain Medicare Benefit Certification, including personal care, caregiver relief, and household chores. Recruits, interviews, and selects volunteers. Assigns duties to administrative and patient‑care volunteers. May accompany newly oriented volunteers on first visits when possible. Delegates and prioritizes tasks to facilitate quality patient care and meet all patient‑care needs. Recognizes and responds to emergency situations. Reports patient/family responses to volunteer services to appropriate hospice staff. Participates positively in training and support for all team members, volunteers, and students. Offers volunteer training to the community and documents those efforts. Participates in staff training programs, including long‑term care facilities, community education, and bereavement volunteer training. Serves on committees as assigned. Performs a complete evaluation of patient/family/caregiver volunteer needs based on the patient’s plan of care. Develops an individualized plan of care for defined volunteer services providing support to patient/family. Ensures volunteer professional services are performed by professionals who meet state discipline regulations. Assists in developing and updating the plan of care. Assesses patient/family response to and satisfaction with care. Qualifications High school or equivalent (required); Bachelor’s degree (preferred). Supervisory experience (preferred). CPR/BLS Certification from AHA/ARC within 60 days (required). Valid driver’s license and must drive personal vehicle for RHS business 25% or more of the time. #J-18808-Ljbffr
