Location
Salt Lake City, UT (Hybrid - 1 Day Onsite per Week (Tuesdays)
Pay Range
$67.31 - $79.33/hr (F lexibility based on experience and qualifications)
Position Summary
Seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and execution of complex mining and heavy industrial projects. This role will provide technical leadership for piping systems, material handling systems, crushing circuits, and HVAC systems while overseeing engineering teams and managing projects from conceptual design through completion. The ideal candidate will bring extensive mining industry experience, strong project leadership skills, and the ability to drive successful project outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering efforts for mining and heavy industrial projects from conceptual design through construction support.
• Provide technical leadership and direction to engineers, designers, and project teams.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and engineering deliverables across multiple projects.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical and project-related challenges.
• Review and approve engineering designs, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, safety requirements, and quality expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
• 10+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience in the mining or heavy industrial industry.
• Experience with piping systems, material handling systems, crushing circuits, and HVAC systems.
• Experience with P&IDs, PFDs, piping design, and stress analysis.
• Knowledge of applicable industry codes including API, ASME, MSS, and ASTM.
• Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and multiple projects.
• PE License preferred or ability to obtain.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive experience supporting mining operations and heavy industrial processing facilities.
• Experience leading projects from feasibility studies and conceptual design through commissioning and startup.
• Experience performing engineering reviews focused on constructability, cost optimization, code compliance, and design quality.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Plant 3D, Inventor, SolidWorks, and CADWorx.
