PRN Respiratory Therapist II

Role Overview The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessments in complex clinical situations, primarily in critical care settings. Responsibilities include ventilator management, airway procedures, arterial blood gas analysis, and patient education. Additionally, the RT II collaborates with healthcare team members, mentors new staff and students, and participates in quality improvement initiatives to ensure safe, evidence-based, and high-quality patient care. Role Overview The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessments in complex clinical situations, primarily in critical care settings. Responsibilities include ventilator management, airway procedures, arterial blood gas analysis, and patient education. Additionally, the RT II collaborates with healthcare team members, mentors new staff and students, and participates in quality improvement initiatives to ensure safe, evidence-based, and high-quality patient care. Key Duties Deliver comprehensive respiratory therapy and medication administration. Perform ventilator management, airway care, and invasive/non-invasive procedures. Assess patients, verify orders, and collaborate on care planning. Educate patients, families, and support staff. Contribute to safety protocols, electronic documentation, and performance improvement efforts. Support staff development and participate in procedural and diagnostic tasks. Qualifications & Skills Education: Associates or Bachelors in Respiratory Therapy preferred. Licenses & Certifications: NBRC-RRT, Respiratory Care Professional, BLS, ACLS (all required upon hire). Experience: 0-2 years clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care.
