Freestyle Program Coach 2026/27

Cranmore Mountain is seeking a detailed-oriented and energetic individual with strong communication and leadership skills to work in our Seasonal Freestyle Program. This position requires the ability to coach safely and monitor the athletes’ development and progression as well as knowledge and understanding of Park SMART. Compensation will be commensurate with experience. This program meets weekends and vacation weeks from December through March.

  SUMMARY

The Seasonal Freestyle Program provides a safe and supportive environment for young athletes to develop their freestyle skiing skills and knowledge. This position is responsible for coaching athletes, fostering positive relationships with

 participants and parents, promoting safety and sportsmanship, and contributing to a fun and engaging learning environment. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills, enthusiasm for skiing, and a commitment to athlete development and guest service excellence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Work closely with the Snowsports School Director to establish and maintain operating and safety procedures, including Park SMART and PSIA standards.
2. Develop and implement training curriculum, goal-setting processes, athlete development plans, and mid-season and end-of-season evaluations.
3. Develop and maintain strong relationships with athletes and their families, ensuring effective communication regarding training schedules, competitions, and travel requirements.
4. Pursue ongoing professional development through PSIA, USSA, and other relevant certification and educational opportunities to remain current with freestyle coaching techniques and industry trends.
5. Serve as a positive role model, coach, and mentor for athletes.
6. Promote and model strong ethics, sportsmanship, and respect both on and off the snow.
7. Read and comply with the Cranmore Employee Handbook and Snowsports School procedures, including grooming, dress, and behavioral standards.
8. Stay informed of and comply with information distributed through Snowsports School guides, bulletin boards, weekly communications, and staff meetings.
9. Supply and maintain personal ski and snowboard equipment in a safe and functional condition.
10. Collaborate with Snowsports School staff and other departments to support athlete development and the successful operation of the Seasonal Freestyle Program.
11. Maintain a flexible work schedule , including program dates, required training sessions, holidays, peak periods, and additional days as needed.
12. Deliver exceptional service to athletes, families, and resort guests by welcoming them in a friendly, respectful manner, actively listening to their needs, providing helpful information and assistance, and creating positive experiences through the "Ten Foot Rule" and other guest-focused interactions.
13. Represent Cranmore professionally at all times by serving as a positive ambassador for the resort, collaborating effectively with fellow employees, and maintaining a cooperative, courteous, and positive attitude when interacting with guests, coworkers, and supervisors.
14.  Perform other jobs and responsibilities as assigned or added as needed.
15. Identify opportunities to enhance athlete experiences, program quality, and operational efficiency.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum of two (2) years of coaching experience and up to five (5) years preferred, or equivalent competitive freestyle training experience. Prior experience with USSA, PSIA, high school, collegiate, or competitive freestyle programs is preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Current USSA Coach Membership and USSA Freestyle Level 1 certification required. Valid driver's license required. Willingness to obtain additional USSA credentials, including Level 2 certification to support aerial training, preferred.

This position requires a high level of physical activity. Candidates should possess the strength, endurance, flexibility, and skiing ability necessary to safely demonstrate freestyle skiing techniques and effectively coach athletes in varying terrain and weather conditions.
