Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Position, level, and precisely align heavy propulsion systems, including steam turbines, diesel engines, reduction gears, propellers, and shafting.
• Troubleshoot, dismantle, repair, overhaul, and test auxiliary mechanical systems.
• Work with pumps, valves, compressors, heat exchangers, steering gears, and fluid systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings to determine installation layouts and specifications.
• Operate portable machining equipment, including boring bars and milling machines.
• Use precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
• Modify, repair, or fabricate components on-site as needed.
• Safely utilize rigging equipment, cranes, jacks, and turnbuckles to move and secure heavy machinery components.
• Collaborate with pipefitters, welders, shipfitters, electricians, and other trades to complete shipbuilding and overhaul projects.
• Perform torch cutting and basic tack welding as required.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain proper use of required PPE.

Key Requirements:

• 3–4+ years of industrial mechanical experience required.
• Previous shipyard or military marine mechanical experience is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and marine terminology.
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools and portable machining equipment.
• Experience with torch cutting and basic tack welding.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

Shifts:

• Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–5:00 PM, with overtime
