Minimum Hiring Wage: From $22.86 per hour Job Details Scheduled Hours: 6:55am - 3:25pm, on call and weekend rotation required. Job Description Assists in surgical procedures under the supervision of physicians, registered nurses and other surgical personnel. Responsible for creating and maintaining the sterile field. Prepares the operating room by collecting needed supplies and equipment. Functions within the sterile field by passing instruments and other supplies to surgeons and providing visualization through retraction. Provides high quality care to the surgical patients. What you will do Active participation in surgical consciousness. Assure each operating room has the correct case cart, supplies, equipment and instrumentation according to individual provider preferences. Monitor and maintain a proper sterile field during surgical procedures. Prepares surgical instrumentation that will be used during procedures and assures proper assembly and function. Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after operation. Pass surgical instruments and supplies to surgeons and surgeons' assistants. Hold retractors and cut sutures, and perform other tasks as directed by surgeon during operation. Monitor and continually assess operating room conditions, including patient and surgical team needs. Prepare dressings and apply or assist with their application following surgery. Participates in room turnover. Qualifications H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required. Graduate of a certified tech program or hospital trained through a formal education program Required. Demonstrates knowledge and ensures competency and comprehension of all regulatory standards. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote safety and security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and company. Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action. The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted. Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Actively looking for ways to help people. Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of works, rules of composition, and grammar. Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand. Certified Surgical Technician Preferred.
