Job Description Works under the direct supervision of the Accessioning Department Shift Supervisor. The lead laboratory associate is a senior position that is expected to have extensive knowledge in departmental procedures and demonstrated skills in communicating departmental procedures and policies to junior and intermediate staff. This position is for Two Second Shift openings: Monday - Friday (3PM-1130PM) Tuesday - Saturday (3PM-1130PM T-F, 10AM-630 PM Sat)

Key Responsibilities

• Training of staff members for both new employee training, new procedures training, and ongoing competencies as assigned by supervisor/dept manager
• Available to colleagues to field questions as they come up throughout the day.
• Reinforce departmental and company goals to the team effectively.
• Directing other accessioning/sample receiving department personnel issues to shift supervisor/department managers.
• Maintain logs and record books as assigned.
• Assist in specimen management functions including: unpacking, labeling, handling, specimen transport, tracking, retrieval, storage and disposal.
• Assist in specimen reception procedures: entry / exit inventory scans, opening of specimens, identification of unacceptable specimens and appropriate disposal
• Entering/accessioning samples into the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
• Cleaning, organizing, and maintaining work areas
• Comply with health and safety policies, procedures, and practices
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

• Minimum - High School Diploma with 1-year clinical laboratory experience
• Preferred Bachelor's Degree

Physical requirements for this role include the ability to work at a computer terminal with monitor, keyboard and mouse for extended periods of time, frequently move around the pharmacy away from the computer terminal, stoop, bend, and reach for equipment and supplies, make frequent repetitive motions required to operate a computer and other pharmacy equipment that include the wrists, hands and fingers, and lift, carry, push, pull, and move objects up to 50 pounds. The role also requires the ability to effectively communicate through verbal interactions, discern auditory information, and visually perceive details to perform essential job functions.
