Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.Based on assessment of physical emotional bio-physical and spiritual needs provides direct patient care and evaluates outcomes. Incorporates the principles of patient-centered care.Communicates patient's clinical information clearly and accurately in verbal and written format. Clearly and accurately documents pertinent information in the patient's medical record. Consistently demonstrates effective documentation practices and develops strategies to ensure complete documentation of patient care.Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment of caring for patients and families. Provides basic patient comfort measures during procedures. When necessary provides environmental support to expedite timely patient admission or transfer. Identifies and acts upon opportunities to improve the environment of care.Provides for the emotional support of patients and families during the crisis of illness. Demonstrates patient/family advocacy.Delivers expert paramedic care in ambulances to multiple patient types to include adult subspecialties and pediatrics.Collaborates with on line medical control physicians to manage the patient care of complex patients in transport.Participates in the orientation program for new staff.As part of the program's safety management system provides feedback and participates in program safety initiatives.Participates in MedSTAR Transport safety program.Administers and maintains pharmacologic agents and intravenous fluids during inter hospital transports.Ensures safe operations during ambulance related activities in coordination with the Emergency Vehicle Operator.Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts.Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.Minimal QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED requiredSuccessful completion of an approved EMT-Paramedic course requiredCompletion of an approved emergency vehicle driving course prior to release from orientation requiredExperience1-2 years experience as a National Registry Paramedic (NRP) preferredLicenses and CertificationsNREMT - National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians-Paramedic requiredParamedic - Certified in the District of Columbia within 30 Days requiredParamedic - Licensed in Maryland within 30 Days requiredCPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days requiredAdditional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.Health Services\ACLS requiredHealth Services\PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support requiredATLS - Advanced Trauma Life Support Certification within 180 Days required orTPATC - Transport Prof Adv Trauma Crse within 180 Days required orPHTLS - Prehospital Trauma Life Support Certification within 180 Days required orTNCC - Trauma Nursing Core Course within 180 Days required orATCN - Advanced Trauma Care Nurse Certification within 180 Days requiredNIH Stroke Scale - NIHSS within 90 Days requiredFEMA ICS 100 Course (FEMA IS-100.c Introduction to the Incident Command System prior to release from orientation requiredFEMA ICS 200 Course FEMA IS-200 ICS for Single Resource and Initial Action Incidents prior to release from orientation requiredDL - Valid State Driver's License in good standingNo more than four points assigned to driver's license and must maintain a satisfactory driving record (no more than four points).Completion of approved Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (e.g. CEVO EVOC) prior to release from orientationKnowledge Skills and AbilitiesDemonstrated ability to precept.Demonstrated high level of clinical competence.Effective interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication.Basic math skills.Basic computer skills preferred.This position has a hiring range of USD $29.43 - USD $48.34 /Hr.
