Read further to learn how you could help make great things possible not only in your community, but around the world.In the role of Senior Bridge Engineer, we'll count on you to:Serve in a lead technical role on bridge design projectsServe as a technical specialist or Project Manager on mid-size projects, and supervise more junior engineers in the performance of engineering tasksPerform complex structural planning, analysis and design for all structural aspects of transportation projects, develop design options or recommendations with support calculationsDevelop and coordinate plans, specifications and estimates for bridge and other transportation structure projectsPerform quality control reviews of work products developed by junior engineersAssist in planning and management of all aspects of bridge inspection, design and rehabilitation projectsLead and serve as Team Leader on bridge, tunnels and ancillary structure inspections for state and local agenciesManage and review load rating computations for structures owned by state and local agenciesPerform other duties as neededPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in Structural Engineering8+ years of experience in design, inspection and/or load ratings of bridges, tunnels, culverts and ancillary highway structures.Working knowledge of bridge and tunnel standards of transportation agencies in Maryland and Virginia.Extensive project experience with Maryland and Virginia transportation agencies.NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges OR Bridge Inspection Refresher certificationNHI Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges OR Bridge Inspection Techniques for NSTM certificationFHWA/NHI Tunnel Safety Inspection certificationExcellent organization skillsMaintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR)Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English languageAble to traverse a construction job siteAble to wear required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while workingPreference given to candidates currently residing in the greater Baltimore areaRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degreeA minimum of 10 years bridge design experienceRequires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered.Proven hands-on experience in all aspects of bridge design projectsFamiliarity with Bluebeam Revu and engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, MDX, SAP2000, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge.Knowledge of ADINA, LUSAS, Bentley OpenBridge Designer and OpenBridge Modeler and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d.Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, MicroStation, AutoCAD, MathCAD, LARSA, Prestress Concrete DesignDemonstrated leadership skills, communication skills and ability to work with various teamsProject management skills desirableStrong communication skills and willing to work in a team environmentMust be comfortable being viewed as a technical expert in engineering analysis and design and have proven background of technical leadership on these types of projectsAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a mustWhat We Believe HDR is our company. The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
