If so, then Ingevity might be the place for you!We’re seeking a strategic and collaborative Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to support our fully unionized Covington, VA manufacturing plant. In this role, you’ll sit at the intersection of business and people strategy, partnering closely with plant leadership to shape a high-performing, inclusive, and engaged workplace.This role will be onsite full time in our Covington facilities, which will allow you to be both a trusted advisor and a hands-on change agent—helping leaders make better decisions, strengthening organizational effectiveness, and creating an environment where employees can thrive.What You’ll Do: Partner with Leaders to Drive ImpactBuild strong relationships with site leadership and influence key business decisions through people strategyTranslate business goals into actionable workforce plans that support current and future successLeverage data and insights to proactively identify opportunities, solve problems, and enhance performanceElevate the Employee ExperienceServe as a trusted HR partner for employees and leaders, ensuring consistent, fair, and compliant practicesChampion a positive, engaging culture where employees feel heard, supported, and valuedAddress employee relations matters with care, transparency, and a focus on resolutionLead in a Unionized EnvironmentPlay a key role in labor relations, including grievance handling, contract interpretation, and negotiations supportPartner with leaders to proactively mitigate risk and maintain strong labor-management relationshipsEnsure consistent application of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) and coach supervisors on CBA compliance, just cause principles, and progressive disciplineDevelop Talent & Build Future LeadersSupport performance management, succession planning, and employee development initiativesCreate and execute a site-specific leadership development strategyCollaborate with Talent Acquisition to attract top talent and build a strong pipelineIdentify skill gaps and implement meaningful development solutionsDriving HR ExcellenceEnsure compliance with all employment laws and company policiesContinuously improving HR processes to enhance efficiency and effectivenessLead or support key HR initiatives that strengthen the overall organizationWhat You Bring:Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field7+ years of progressive HR Business Partner experience within a manufacturing environment, including direct support of unionized workforces strongly preferredProven ability to build credibility and trust with both hourly union employees and site leadershipExperience navigating complex employee relations issues with a balanced, compliant, and fair approach in a union settingProven ability to influence leaders and drive changeAbility to analyze workforce data and trends to inform decisions and proactively address workforce challengesExperience with HR systems (Workday preferred)Willingness to travel up to 10% domesticallyIngevity is a company made up of extraordinary people of every race, religion and background, all worthy of the same dignity.
