Patient Access Rep I

Job Overview Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, located in South Boston, VA, is hiring a Patient Access Representative (full time, 2 pm‑10:30 pm, every other weekend). The position will cover Emergency Room registration and involves all aspects of the patient registration process, including verifying patient identity, selecting the correct patient record, reviewing schedules and physician orders, scanning important documents (insurance cards, ID's, Living Wills, and POAs), and entering the patient's demographic and insurance information into the electronic health record. The Patient Access Representative explains and completes complex regulatory and compliance documents and adheres to applicable privacy and compliance standards. They collect co‑payments, deposits, and outstanding balances and perform secure transactions. The role also includes greeting patients and families, answering questions, ensuring appropriate patient routing, and may perform scheduling, pre‑admission, and discharge duties. The representative provides supervision and updates to families in waiting rooms.
