About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Neuro ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Active state license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Ventriculostomy experience - NIH Stroke Scale Certification - Experience with ventilators, arterial lines, and central lines - Knowledge in tPA administration and acute stroke management - Experience with post-craniectomy care Description: The Neuro ICU is a specialized unit for critically ill patients. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:2. RNs are required to titrate medications as per physician orders. Common diagnoses include strokes and patients requiring ventriculostomy care. There are designated charge nurses and house supervisors present on each shift. Nursing assistants are available with a ratio of 1:9. RNs are expected to troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment. Telemetry monitor technicians are present on each shift, and nurses are required to interpret their own telemetry strips. RNs will float to various units within the facility as needed. Shifts are 12 hours in duration, with every other weekend and holiday requirements. Orientation will encompass both unit-specific and general training.
