The Shipping & Receiving Associate is responsible for all incoming and outgoing material movement, documentation, and packaging at the site. This position plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy of shipments, maintaining safety standards, and preparing materials for delivery to customers or for internal use. This role that requires attention to detail, manual handling of materials, and operation of forklifts and other material handling equipment. This position is classified as full-time, Non-Exempt. The position typically involves 10-hour shifts, 5 days per week. Occasional weekends may be required. Shipping & Receiving Operations Count, weigh, measure, and verify materials for all incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepare and complete accurate documentation including receivers, packing slips, and shipping labels. Package metal products includingcleaning, deburring, stenciling, and marking materials as required. Build and assemble crates, pallets, and boxes using nail guns, saws, and other hand tools. Secure packages and materials for shipment using strapping, banding, and protective materials. Material Handling Load and unload trucks using forklifts or other material handling equipment. Stage materials for shipment or storage in designated areas. Maintain clean, organized shipping and receiving areas to ensure efficient workflow. Safety & Compliance Follow all company safety protocols, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Operate forklifts and other equipment safely, adhering to company and OSHA regulations. Work in varied environmental conditions, including hot or cold temperatures and non-air-conditioned areas. Team Collaboration Collaboration Communicate effectively with management, coworkers, and the Quality team to resolve shipment issues. Support team members and assist with other duties as required by business needs. Driving & Delivery (as assigned) Operate company vehicles for local pickups and deliveries, including straight trucks and flatbeds. Ensure all materials are secured and transported safely, following DOT and company regulations. Complete driver inspections, maintain clean vehicles, and report any issues promptly. Maintain accurate delivery logs and obtain delivery confirmations when applicable. CDL may be required depending on vehicle class operated. Education & Qualifications High School Diploma or GED preferred. Prior experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations preferred. Forklift certified (or able to become certified within 13 months of hire). Ability to read and interpret shipping documents, packing slips, and work orders. Basic math and measurement skills for accurate counting and verification. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Valid driver's license required; CDL Class A preferred for applicable driving duties. Must meet company and DOT driving eligibility requirements if assigned driver responsibilities.
