Property Accountant

We’re recruiting for our client in the commercial real estate industry seeking a Property Accountant to support the accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial real estate assets. This is a strong opportunity for an accounting professional looking to build experience within commercial real estate and gain exposure to property-level financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, cash management, and operational accounting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and interested in developing a long-term career in real estate accounting Responsibilities Perform general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for assigned properties. Assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable activities, including tenant billing, collections, invoice processing, and cash management. Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Prepare account analysis and budget-to-actual variance reporting. Assist with CAM, real estate tax, insurance, and other tenant reconciliations. Support tenant improvement (TI) and leasing commission accounting. Prepare bank reconciliations and assist with lender draws, ownership reporting, and other financial reporting requirements. Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules. Monitor and reconcile security deposits, escrow accounts, and restricted cash accounts. Review lease information to ensure accurate tenant billing and financial calculations. Partner with Property Management, Asset Management, and Operations teams to support property financial performance. Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. 1–3+ years of accounting experience preferred. Previous property accounting or commercial real estate experience is a plus, but not required. Experience with Yardi or similar property management/accounting software is preferred. Working knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
