ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse to join our team. This position will require the ability to deliver quality care in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on cardiac and surgical ICU patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Cardiac Surgical ICU, managing a diverse patient population including cardiac and medical ICU cases.
• Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team to ensure high standards of patient care.
• Monitor and interpret vital signs and EKG readings; perform 12-lead EKGs as necessary.
• Titrate medications including vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, and analgesics as required.
• Participate in unit-specific orientation and ongoing training programs.
• Adhere to strict policies regarding patient safety and infection control.
• Assist with the onboarding of new staff and educate on best practices within the unit.

Working Conditions

This role involves working night shifts, with an expectation of flexibility to accommodate weekend and holiday scheduling as necessary. The schedule is determined based on department needs while considering any pre-approved time off requests.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of critical care nursing experience.
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS are required; CRRT certification is preferred.
• Proficiency in reading EKG strips and monitoring cardiac patients.
• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to adapt to changing clinical situations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex patient care scenarios effectively.

Additional Information

The unit comprises 24 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2. Registered Nurses are responsible for reading their own telemetry strips using Philips monitoring equipment. Critical care tech support is available within the unit to assist with patient care.

Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and be prepared to float within the Zone as required during extreme staffing needs.

Appearance and Dress Code

All staff are required to adhere to the dress code of navy blue scrub attire.
