Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical ICU (Nights) | Nebraska

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse provides high-quality, patient-centered care to a diverse medical and post-surgical patient population. This role emphasizes teamwork, strong clinical judgment, and compassionate care in a supportive, mentorship-driven environment focused on professional growth and clinical excellence.

Unit Overview

This 28-bed Medical Unit supports a wide range of patient populations, including:

• Stroke and TIA
• Pancreatitis
• GI bleeds
• Wounds requiring debridement
• Detox and withdrawal
• Pneumonia
• Post-operative recovery

The unit is known for its strong teamwork, collaborative culture, and hands-on learning environment.

Shift Details

• Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Self-scheduling
• Every 3rd weekend
• Rotating holidays

Compensation & Incentives

• Up to $30,000 sign-on bonus
• Tuition assistance: up to $10,000 over 4 years
• Night shift differentials

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver age-appropriate, individualized nursing care
• Perform ongoing patient assessments and develop/update plans of care
• Implement safe, evidence-based nursing interventions
• Evaluate patient responses and modify care as needed
• Provide thorough handoff communication using SBAR
• Perform technical nursing skills competently and independently
• Maintain professional conduct and contribute to a positive team culture
• Identify and report safety risks and follow established precautions
• Delegate tasks appropriately based on competency and scope of practice
• Utilize resources responsibly and ensure accurate documentation and charging

Requirements

• Active Nebraska RN license or valid compact multistate license
• Current BLS certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
• ADN required; BSN or MSN preferred
• ICU consideration requires 2+ years of critical care experience
