Clinical Research Coordinator I – Translational Research Location: Boston, MA Organization: Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Job Description Responsible for screening research subjects for participation in clinical research projects, enrolling research subjects onto these studies, monitoring protocol implementation, completing required forms and reporting results. Works closely with other clinical research staff. Primary Responsibilities Recruit and enroll research subjects onto clinical research projects according to study protocols. Assess subject eligibility for inclusion in a protocol based on contracts with physicians and nurses and protocol knowledge. Check all eligibility criteria with the subject’s medical record and verify information with the research nurse or principal investigator. Discuss informed consent with research subjects, interact with them prior to entering the study and throughout the entire treatment, and assist with scheduling appointments and follow‑up tests. Learn protocols and monitor strict adherence by physicians, nurses, and subjects; identify compliance problems and notify the principal investigator or research nurse. Extract data on protocol subjects from hospital records, outpatient charts and private physician office records to complete case report forms; enter data into a computerized system. Assist clinic staff in obtaining insurance approval for protocol participation and in scheduling tests, admissions, or outpatient visits for subjects. Assist investigators with correspondence with the Institutional Review Board (IRB). As needed, perform duties related to clinical research studies in various areas or clinics. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required. 0–1 year of related work experience required. Familiarity with medical terminology. Working knowledge of computer systems, including web‑based applications and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Teamwork: Works collaboratively in small teams, offering ideas, identifying issues, and respecting team members. Customer Service: Provides a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and external customers in a professional, respectful manner; remains calm in stressful situations. Physical Requirements Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently; may be sedentary but requires standing or moving throughout the hospital campus. Pay Range $19.23 – $28.37 per hour. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable.
