Part-Time - Firefighter / EMT / Paramedic

The Mentor-on-the-Lake Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of Firefighter /EMT / Paramedic Part-Time. Fire services include EMS operations, fire suppression, rescue, hazmat operations, fire investigation and fire prevention / education. The department serves a public of approximately 7,500 residents. The application process includes a comprehensive background investigation, psychological examination, physical agility certificate and successful completion of a physical. The Fire Department offers a structured schedule with days, nights, and weekend hours. Job Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum age is 18 years old by date of appointment Valid Ohio Firefighter II and EMT-B or Paramedic Certificate Must be free from felony convictions Must have valid Ohio Driver’s License with no OVI convictions Must be able to complete entire selection process - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must be in excellent physical condition and successfully complete physical agility test Must have the ability and willingness to learn Fire Department procedure and principles Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills and report writing Must have the ability to analyze situations and adopt quick, effective and reasonable course of action with due regard to surrounding hazards and circumstances Must have the ability to deal effectively with people having diverse social and economic backgrounds Must have the ability to maintain a high level of integrity, commitment, professionalism and courage when dealing with the public and co-workers Must have the ability to perform the physical requirements of the work Must have the ability to maintain composure and operate efficiently under high stress situations The Fire Department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
