Position: PPW Therapist
Status: Full Time,
Shift: Day Shift

Position Summary: To provide quality clinical and psychotherapeutic services to the youth and adult patient population and their families; to serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team supporting the organization’s treatment program and philosophy and assure the deliverance of quality treatment to patients and their families. Works collaboratively with other departments within the facility to ensure the safety and well-being of patients and to develop clinically sound, therapeutic interventions; follows all HR policies/procedures ; Reports all serious occurrences and incidents and keeps, internal managers informed of issues/problems involving patients.

 

Essential Functions:

 

• Demonstrates conduct in keeping with ethical standards.

• Maintains proper boundaries when interacting with patients and their families and co-workers.

• Maintains confidentiality of former and current patient information.

• Respects and safeguards the confidentiality and privacy of MBHS and co-worker information.

• Serves as a role model for other employees by exemplary behavior on and off the job.

• Complies with facility safety, infection control and security program.

• Complies with safety & security policies and procedures.

• Keeps workspace clean and free of work hazards that could pose a safety threat to patients.

• Complies with company’s policy regarding identification badge.

• Identifies potential safety & security problems and reports to supervisor and/or safety officer.

• Facilitates group treatment with patients.

• Ensures that the clinical program and treatment rendered to patients is safe, clinically appropriate and that patients receive quality during group.

• Ensures that patients are provided with appropriate and relevant therapeutic interventions, and that their medical needs are addressed by the nursing staff.

• Demonstrates sound judgment and can resolve problems and issues that may arise expeditiously.

• Keeps DCS informed of all serious incidents, allegations, or serious issues related to program operations and patient safety.

• Ensures that required documentation is completed within expected timeframes and is accurate.

• Educates other staff on appropriately interact with patients in group based on the individual needs of the patient. Documents patient’s participation in group therapy & response to the intervention. 

• All other duties assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Master’s degree and license for independent practice (LCSW) in social work or equivalent master’s degree in a recognized mental health field (LPC; LMFT; etc.) 

Experience: A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a clinical or psychiatric service setting.

Competency: Position and Age-Related

Licensure/Certification: Professional clinical license issued by the appropriate licensing body in Louisiana; CPR and CPI certifications required within 30 days of employment; PMAB certification required, where necessary.

HIPAA: Has access to and adds information to the Medical Record. May only access medical record of assigned patients.

 

Other: Written and oral communication skills; skills in case management, time management, and crisis intervention. Knowledge of developmental psychology of youth and adults; needs of youth and adults; Skills in maintaining information as highly confidential; must demonstrate the ability to treat other age populations as needed or have the capacity to develop skills through cross-training and orientation. Ability to clearly summarize pertinent clinical information via written correspondence and medical records documentation. Ability to complete required documentation in a timely, accurate manner that is clinically appropriate and within expected timeframes.
