Our Mission at DDS is to provide secure driver and identity credentials to our customers with excellence and respect .Job Summary:As an Identity and Driver Credential Specialists 1 for DDS, you will help make everyday life possible for thousands of State of Georgia residents. The successful candidate in this role can make a positive impact on the lives of their customers that walk in whether its issuing learners permit to teens, welcoming newcomers by converting out-of-state licenses, awarding driver licenses to the first-time drivers by administering examinations or issuing identity cards in compliance with state laws and regulations. The focus of this position is working with and through others within established guidelines. The ability to interact comfortably with a diverse population is important.The successful candidate in this position must be friendly and genuinely interested in helping others. Patience and attention to detail is a major focus of the job, and those details need to be handled quickly, accurately and efficiently. High-volume centers cater to a larger customer base and consequently experience higher frequencies of incidents such as dealing with irate customers, slip and falls, road test crashes, sick customers, etc. May serve as team lead to lower-level staff.Career Mobility:DDS believes in internal mobility and career advancement opportunities for our employees with satisfactory performance to transition from Identity and Driver Credential Specialists 1 to Identity and Driver Credential Specialists 2 with an increase of 10%.Identity and Driver Credential Specialists 1After 12 months of employment$1600After 18 months of employment (promotion to Identity and Driver Credential Specialists 2 )$1600Certified Commercial Identity and Driver Credential Specialists at Commercial Customer Service Centers will receive a stipend each pay period.Major Service Area (MSA)DDS Customer Service Centers with a high volume of transactions (minimum of 40,000 annually) are considered MSA Centers. The agency will conduct an MSA Assessment every twenty-four months to determine if CSCs need to be added or removed from the MSA Category. The Team Members assigned to an MSA Center receive a $3,500 supplement.The following conditions apply to Identity and Driver Credential Specialists hired after July 1, 2026, which will result in loss of the $3,500 supplement:transfer from an MSA Center to a non-MSA Centertransfer to HeadquartersCSC is removed from the MSA CategoryDuties:Working with citizens to ensure applications, records and documents are completed accurately.Accompanying drivers in vehicles for commercial skills test and in both a traditional and virtual capacity for non-commercial skills tests, to evaluate their ability to adhere to Georgia’s driving laws.Conducting driving examinations for motorcycle and commercial licenses in accordance with state law and regulations.Operating visual testing equipment.Accurately collecting payments via cash or credit cardsMinimum Qualifications:Must be eighteen (18) years of ageCompletion of a high school diploma or GED is requiredA valid Georgia Class C or equivalent License is required and must be maintained while employed in this position.At least one (1) year of Face-to-face Customer Service experience within the last five yearsAt least one (1) year of Face-to-face experience with cash transactions including handling cash, daily reconciliation, and processing credit card payments within the last five years.Comfortable working with computer and internet technology.Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to those applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualification above, also possess two or more of the following :At least three (3) years of Face-to-face Customer Service experience within the last five yearsAt least three (3) years of recent Face-to-face experience with cash transactions including handling cash, daily reconciliation, and processing credit card payments within the last five yearsLive within 30 miles of the Customer Service Center for which you are applyingBilingual skillset preferredWorking Conditions for this position are as follows: Road skills tests are conducted throughout the year in a variety of weather conditions including rain, wind, summer heat and cold winter days. Testing begins in the early morning hours and continues through the early evening hours. The test runs approximately 30 minutes, and commercial vehicle skills tests can run approximately 2 hours. Walking distances, standing, very little sitting, constant moving, good vision and hearing, climbing in trucks and commercial vehicles, bending, squatting, lifting, reaching, turning, riding in and driving cars, trucks and commercial vehicles and constant interaction with the public and co-workers are prerequisites.Conditions of Employment:A valid Georgia driver’s license is required and must be maintained while employed in this position. Non-Georgia residents must have a recognized equivalent license. If a valid Georgia driver’s license has not been held for at least three years at the time of application, you will be required to obtain a Motor Vehicle record from the previous state of licensure prior to hire.Successful completion of the CCKE (Certified Commercial Knowledge Examiner) Certification, a national certification, is required by all employees who issue driver’s licenses.Employees who conduct CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) road tests must successfully complete the CDL Examiner Certification and the CCE (Certified Commercial Examiner) Certification. This is required by all employees who administer CDL road skills tests. Two attempts are given to successfully complete the certification requirements.Employees must maintain these requirements to continue employment with DDS.Employees must have flexible work availability due to customer service centers having varied operational hours.DDS employees may be required as a term and condition of employment, to assist in meeting the responsibilities of the Department. In addition, they may be required to perform responsibilities that are not regularly assigned to them in order to continue the operations of the agency which includes assisting other centers.
