Duration of Appointment May 16th 2026 – August 9th 2026 Maximum Scheduled Weekly Hours 1 Job Description Summary Sr. Student Manager conference‑management position hired to support visiting campus guests of summer camps and conferences. Oversee student staff and report to the Assistant Director for Conferences. Essential Duties Work performed at this level is done independently of supervision. Provide supervision to student employees at the Student Master 1 Undergraduate level. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requires the highest level of artistic, technical, or scientific expertise, with experience in the following software programs: Iris Conference Management, Webcard Center, and When 2Work. Require, at minimum, 1 year of previous experience in Conference and Event Services as a Student Master 1 Undergraduate. Must be enrolled either at Miami University or another university for the coming semester. Driver’s license required; pre‑employment Motor Vehicle Use Agreement signed and Hire Right driver approval. Must successfully pass a background check; selected students will have to pass a fingerprinted state of Ohio background check before hire. Availability for employment May 15th – August 9th 2026. Will evaluate individual applicant availability for pre‑summer office work to prepare for summer business. Limited training meetings during late April and early May. Prior customer service or conference experience is preferred. Demonstrated attention to detail, professionalism, dependability, and excellent communication skills. Proven decision‑making abilities and self‑direction. 30–40 hours per week; shifts vary in length from 6–8 hours. Hours to include mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnight, and weekends. For academic and administrative assistance settings, the student will perform complex research activities in the scientific field, potentially leading research groups. For technical settings, the student must possess advanced computer knowledge and customer support skills in advanced client/server programming, relational databases, Novell, C++, TCP/IP, SQL, JAVA, and Visual Basic. Must demonstrate leadership, training, and expert management abilities, maintain a professional environment for fellow employees and clients, approve supervisory functions, provide expert leadership, and approve schedules.
