• The SRE domain is responsible for enabling innovation and velocity of change while ensuring system reliability focusing on the critical features and functionality within products and platforms. It handles monitoring, automating, and improving the reliability, performance, and availability of software systems. Team members in this domain work on tasks such as automating manual processes and operations, building effective monitoring & alerting into systems, participating in system design and capacity planning, and ensuring the smooth operation of systems applications with a focus on application availability and preventing incidents.

What you'll do

• Ensure key stakeholders, product owners, and platform owners are informed of reliability concerns and their potential impact on the customers' experience.
• Design, code, test and deliver solutions to automate manual operation (i.e., “TOIL”).
• Lead operations support and on-call rotation shifts (could include weekends and holidays), for SRE supported systems and products, and coordinate application observability, incident response, root cause analysis, and post-mortem analysis as needed.
• Collaborate with stakeholders such as product and platform owners, to define service level objectives (SLOs), and service-level indicators (SLIs) for system operations focused on the critical features of the customers’ journey and experience.
• Track and manage reliability performance against agreed SLOs, in partnership with IT monitoring teams or other stakeholders, and ensure systems continue to meet SLOs over time.
• Provide expert knowledge on reliability approaches, to ensure our organization achieves its goals and roadmap for reliability.
• Champion reliability as being treated as a feature in products and platforms and promote the concept across all phases of the software development life cycle.
• Create dashboards and reports to communicate key metrics, to product owners and key stakeholders.
• Contribute to documentation and runbooks for owned applications based on operational experience, user feedback, and application changes

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training 
• 3+ years of experience designing, developing, operating, and/or implementing large-scale solutions in production environments

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training 
• Airline industry experience 

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

• Proficiency with one or more languages, such as shell, Python, Java, C/C++, and JavaScript 
• Proficiency with building and maintaining enterprise HA DevOps Kubernetes infrastructure including networking, ingress, and service mesh
• Proficiency with modern full-stack application observability to achieve SLOs and MTTR goals, including incident response, root cause analysis, and post-mortem analysis
• Proactive approach to identifying problems, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement 
• Ability to optimize solutions for performance, resiliency and reliability while maintaining an eye toward simplicity 
• Proficiency in DevOps Toolchain methodologies, including CI/CD with test automation, quality gating, and blue-green/canary using Azure and GitHub pipelines
• Proficiency with the following technologies:
  • Source Control: GitHub and Azure DevOps
  • Kubernetes: Azure AKS, Amazon EKS, and/or IBM KS with Rancher, Backstage, and kubectl
  • Hosting Strategy: multi-cloud, multi-region, multi-AZ, blue-green/canary
  • Security: secret scanning, HashiCorp credential management, compliance auditing, endpoint security
  • Observability: Dynatrace, Grafana, Azure ADX
